Why is it Important?
There are many different subsections that make
up computer engineering making it a very broad thing to major in. Some of these
sections include coding, networking, robotics and circuitry, which allow more
people to try and find out exactly what they are interested in. Coding, which
is one of the fields that I am trying to excel in, deals with the different
ways that the computer system can be protected from different types of threats
and the creation of software. These threats include viruses and hackers that
want information from a computer. Networking is the way that computers
communicate with each other through the use of networks. If it involves
connecting to the internet or simply transferring data between two computers,
networking is involved in one way or another.
These sections are important because of the way that society is becoming
more and more dependent on technology.

Because of the way technology has been progressing, there will be a larger need for computer engineers in the next ten years. There are jobs available in many fields such as medicine, robotics, and the car industry. Some specific careers include telecommunications, robotic equipment design, and computer manufacturing. Computer engineers generally make between $60,000 and $148,000 annually depending on the amount of experience that they have (United States Bureau of Labor Statistics). Looking at that nice salary might push more people towards the major.
